WEBSITE RE-LAUNCH

It has been more than five years since we had a MoPo website. Sounds CRAZY right? But there’s a good reason. And it has to do with the times. Back in 2016, I was a single, touring artist and promoter, living with a roomate in a beautiful San Francisco apartment on Twin Peaks. I was producing music at a solid clip and prepping releases for the Radiohead remix album that became Subterranean Homemade Alchemy and a bunch of other music. I was also starting to write and blog again consistently, including my feelings about the looming presidential election. At the time it was primary season and Hillary Clinton was facing off against Bernie Sanders. I wrote a blog post in my since discontinued Tumblr that made a reasoned case about why Hillary would make a better president than Bernie. We’ll never know of course but I still feel she was imminently qualified and would have led effectively. Within a few days of the posting, my website was hacked and infected with high-grade Malware that made a swift recovery of even the files impossible. Despite a brave attempt by the tireless Laurel Mooney (then of ZDCA) the site became a complete washout. I have since attributed this hack either to ‘Bernie Bros’ or ‘Rushist Trolls’. Either way I was without a website and very soon after a lot of things started happening very quickly. I fell in love with the woman who would become my wife, moved with her into a home in Oakland, and had the first of our two children. Within a matter of 6 months, my production of music, text, creative outlay etc was pared down to just the bare minimum elements. I was able to release Subalchemy, but with two young children and so much on my plate, much of the ‘MoPo Shit” hasd to be put on hold. Since then I took on the CEO role for HUSHconcerts, guided the company (successfully) through the pandemic and then moved my family across the country to our new home in Cape Cod. So I think you will agree A LOT OF SHIT HAS GONE DOWN. Which brings us to the now. I wont say things have settled down, but they have settled enough that I was able to engage with my brilliant friend Jimmy Little to get this website back off the ground. The goal isn’t really to promote me as a touring artist anymore. Rather the idea is to create a central hub where I can share my 2 decades of creative output, and anything new that comes along. Today in honor of my 13th appearance at Outside Lands Festival I am releasing FIVE live recordings of past Outside Lands sets. In the coming weeks & months we will be releasing dozens of more sets as well as back posting a lot of my writing work from throughout the years. If having 2 kids has taught me anything it’s that LEGACY matters and this music and writing archive is (besides them) the only things I will leave behind on this planet earth. So I want to share them all with you. To all of those who have supported my creative endeavors throughout the years, I thank you sincerely from the bottom of my soul. here’s to 2 more decades of fun and profound cathartic esoteric experiences.
