There are SO MANY reasons why this tour is important, not just for me, but for everyone...

MUSIC HISTORY:
  • DJ History: First time the “Silent Disco” concept has ever been used on a US club tour.
  • DJ History: The “Silent Soundclash” (2 channel battle) has NEVER been tried.
  • DJ Legacy: “Soundclashes” go back to the first DJ events in Jamaica and the Bronx. At those
sound-clashes, Djs would bring sound-systems and try to outduel or even
drown out each-other cacophonous struggle. The winner would actually TAKE
the other’s sound-system. Today we can have this battle and the user can
just switch back and forth without any cacophony.
  • Musical Experience: Listeners on headphones don’t chat or shmooze but rather really listen. This allows Djs to play music that’s more adventurous. This favors music that encourages
people to sing or chant... It also pushes Dj culture towards more MUSICAL dance music. My sets at Bonnaroo have always been my most adventurous and satisfying for this reason.

TECHNOLOGY :

· Wireless
technology:
Tech partner “Silent Events” custom designed &
manufactured these headphones with an FCC-licensed band. There are already
companies building these for use on Bluetooth and other more nascent networks.

· Future
Connectivity:
Expand this concept onto a 3G Network broadcast and
one could theoretically have MILLIONS around the world listening to the same
music performance, or public address simultaneously

PUBLIC POLICY/CIVIL RIGHTS:

· The Nuclear Options against the NIMBYs and culture conservatives: Undergrounds and spontaneous celebrations and even licensed clubs are under fire all over the US. Manhatten is a musical ghost-town, San
Francisco is a battleground. Silent parties and concerts take the entire “NOISE”
factor out of the debate.

· House Parties that don’t wake up neighbours

· Performances in high-profile public
spaces that are completely legal and do not need ANY permitting.
I can see a day when we do this on the Washington Monument. "FlashMob's have done it well, but we're going to do it "LIVE"

· Public gatherings that challenge the
ongoing creep against our first amendment rights.
